It’s officially advent season so of course you should have chocolate for breakfast every single day until Christmas. In my house, it’s practically the law. But if your advent chocolate gives you a taste for morning chocolate treats then how about taking it into your breakfast choices too? I’ve got a very special recipe for chocolate porridge and it is the perfect morning pick me up. You might be thinking: ‘But I don’t want to be really unhealthy, I still need to fit into my Christmas party dress!’ Well fear not, this is a healthy chocolate porridge. With a little help from Deliciously Ella’s Creamy Coconut Porridge, this recipe tastes chocolatey but is full of wholesome ingredients. And it’ll also keep you full until lunchtime to ensure you don’t sneak a few chocolates off the Christmas tree too!
Chocolate, Banana & Coconut Porridge
For this very special morning treat, you’re going to need:
- 25g oats
- 100ml water
- 3 tablespoons coconut milk
- 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Slice the banana. Add the oats, water, coconut milk, cacao powder and half the banana to a pan and cook for 5-7 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.
Stir in the coconut oil and until it has completely melted.
Pour into a bowl and top with the rest of the banana. Sprinkle some cacao powder on top.
Hope you enjoy – let me know if you recreate it at home!
